Are there any fees to access the resources in the Virginia Henderson International Nursing Library?

  • No, the resources in the online Virginia Henderson International Nursing Library are free to everyone. To view articles from EBSCO, we ask visitors to first register. Registration is free.

Why should I register in the library?

  • To have access to the “Free Resources” section of the online library containing 6, pre-selected full text articles being funded by the Ruth Lilly Endowment.
  • To be allowed to submit your study abstract for approval and posting in the Registry of Nursing Research database.
  • To establish your own personal folder, “My Profile,” where you can keep your contact information updated, claim, edit, and manage the study abstracts that you are associated with that are posted in the library database.

How do I register in the library?

  • Click on the "Register Now" link that is found on the vertical navigation bar of the home page, or "Sign In" using the gold button found above the library banner.
  • Enter your e-mail address, create a password to use in the library, and enter your name information on the registration form. It is recommended that you create a password that is a combination of at least 8 letters and/or digits that you will be able to remember easily. This password is not associated with honor society member IDs. Also, be sure to check the box on the form to acknowledge that you have read the standard terms and conditions for using the site.

Can I submit my dissertation abstract to both Proquest and the Virginia Henderson International Nursing Library?

  • Yes, you would be compliant with copyright restrictions as long as you do not submit the same descriptive abstract for posting in the Registry of Nursing Research database that you submit to Proquest. It is recommended that you include a brief sentence at the conclusion of your study abstract to acknowledge that an abstract about this study will also be published in Proquest.

How can I access full text journal articles in the library?

  • Use the vertical navigation bar on the home page to access the first issue of each new volume of the honor society’s journals – Journal of Nursing Scholarship and Worldviews on Evidence-based Nursing,
  • “Sign In” on the home page to access the “Free Resources” section of the library where you will find 6, pre-selected articles that are featured in the library on specific areas of nursing every month
  • Click on the “Find Resources” tab on the horizontal navigation bar on the home page to find links to open access or complementary full text articles.

How should I cite a study found in the Registry of Nursing Research database?

  • Author, A. A., (Conference organization, year of conference). Title of the conference presentation. Retrieved month date, year, from the Virginia Henderson International Nursing Library http://www.nursinglibrary.org.
