This presentation will describe the development and use of a computerized assessment system to evaluate student clinical performance with a clinical evaluation tool and skills evaluation forms to provide immediate feedback to students in the clinical setting. Features of the computerized clinical evaluation tool include a scoring rubric to provide standardized comments about each clinical outcome with additional space for individualized evaluator comments for review with each student. The computerized skill evaluation form features specified criteria for evaluation of an identified skill in the laboratory or clinical setting. The files are on a handheld computer that is carried in the faculty member's uniform pocket and can be shared with students after performance of a skill to provide immediate feedback. Participants will learn how to develop, use, and adapt this type of computerized system on both a desktop and a handheld computer.
