This presentation will describe the integration and evaluation of PDA resource utilization in clinical nursing education. Nursing students are faced with the need to immediately retrieve the latest information in the clinical setting to make informed decisions regarding patient care. Methods of PDA resource utilization will be discussed include describing how students utilize a PDA during each clinical session to find information for their assigned patient, and using a clinical weekly activity sheet to promote utilization of the PDA resources in making clinical decisions. Samples of a step by step picture guide manual illustrating how to use the PDA will be reviewed. An evaluation of the advantages and the disadvantages of obtaining clinical information via PDA technology will be included in the presentation.
