[Clinical session research presentation] This paper will present a model designed to describe the teenage girls' understanding of healthy teenage sexuality. A total sample of 30 teenage girls aged 13 to 19 years (15 in school and 15 out of school) was obtained. In-depth individual interviews were conducted. Also a focus group consisting of 6 most articulate teenage girls who participated in individual interviews was conducted. The life-span developmental perspective and symbolic interaction theory were used to guide this study. Grounded theory method of constant comparative analysis was used for data collection and analysis. The generated themes describe and explain the actions/interactions, the experienced social process, the facilitating macro and micro environmental conditions and the goal. The model reveals that teenage girls understanding of sexual actions and interaction were deeply embedded in the cultural contraction of womanhood, environment, health and socio economic conditions. The models concepts are connected through a common thread of empowered belonging. The goal of this model is sexual health.
