[Symposium scientific presentation] The purpose of this Chiron project, completed in January 2006, was to create an innovative model for formal and informal structures for increased support and participation of faculty and students across all programs in research and scholarly activities within our School of Nursing. We conducted two surveys of faculty: one that assessed current involvement as well as future interest in research activities; and one that analyzed the research and scholarly based learning outcomes and assignments for each nursing syllabi in the curriculum. These surveys yielded very useful data, which we presented in a research focused CEU program in August 2006. Additionally, the Chiron project provided the rationale for the creation of a Coordinator of Research position within the School of Nursing. This presentation will focus on the applicability of a research assessment to nursing programs who are interested in expanding their research and scholarly activity focus.
