[Evidence-based Practice Session Presentation] Introduction:Hypertension has become increasingly important medical and public health issue due to its high prevalence and serious and fatal complications. Hypertension being commonest risk factor, has a very strong relationship with circulatory disease like coronary heart disease (CHD), and stoke. The higher the blood pressure the greater the chances of CHD, stroke and kidney failure. Objective: To estimate the prevalence of hypertension among married women having sedentary life style in an urban setting of Karachi, Pakistan.Methodology: An Analytical cross sectional survey was done with the help of  self made questionnaire ,which were filled by 45 randomly selected male and females from the community of Rehmani Garden aged 25 and above during the time period of November to December 2008.Results: The overall prevalence of hypertension among married women was 70.8% as compared to male which was 29.2%. This is very alarming prevalence and it has been identified that among those women 39.1% were having sedentary life style. Conclusion: There is an immense need to emphasize the importance of physical activity in our daily lives; because less physical activity can lead to different health problems like hypertension & other chronic diseases.
