This presentation will describe the development and use of a computerized assessment system to track student exam grades, assignment grades and clinical grades. The theory grade book tracks student exam and assignment grades in the theory portion of the course. Features of the grade sheet include automatic calculation of each student's current course grade, a mechanism for anonymously posting grades and color codes for specific grade categories to identify students needing additional assistance. The clinical grade files track student completion of skills in the clinical setting. The major feature of this file allows for real time tracking of student completion of clinical skills by the faculty member on a handheld computer. Individual reports can be generated for each student at any time summarizing their skill completion to date. Participants will learn how to develop, use, and adapt this type of computerized system on both a desktop computer and handheld computer that the faculty member can carry to clinical in a uniform pocket.
