Conference Sponsor:Sigma Theta Tau International
Conference Year:2005
Author:Michaels, Jackie, RN, MS, WHNP
P.I. Institution Name:University of Texas at Arlington School of Nursing
Title:Clinical Instructor
RN-BSN students have frequently had no formal assessment course in their previous academic education and may be very specialized in a narrow practice. Some assessment skills may be strong but some may have never developed. Student may have had no opportunity to hear crackles and wheezes or abnormal heart sounds. High fidelity simulation provides a once in a lifetime opportunity for these nurses to experience some of these easily programmable conditions. Results of student evaluations will be shared.
