[Special invitation presentation] Implementing evidence based practice requires professional clinical competence, institutional support, leadership skills and a value for patient preferences. Leadership has been identified as a crucial component for the implementation of evidence based practice. In this project, a transformational leadership model is utilized to implement evidence based fetal monitoring in a rural community hospital through the work of a multidisciplinary team who set out to change practice and improve patient care for laboring women.
