Title:
Culturally Sensitive Marketing Brochures
Abstract:
Culturally Sensitive Marketing Brochures
Conference Sponsor:Sigma Theta Tau International
Conference Year:2001
Conference Date:November 10 - 14, 2001
Author:Murray, Laurie
P.I. Institution Name:Cedar Crest College
Purpose: To Provide Diversity in Literature for Careers in Nursing. Strategy: In review of works geared to inform children of nursing as a career we found most to be lacking in cultural diversity. We sought out the advice of individuals in tune with culturally diverse advertising. As a result the two authors collaborated to create a brochure displaying cultural diversity. The plan is to print the brochure in Spanish and English in order to attract a more diverse population to nursing as a career. Given that comprehension is 80% greater in Spanish than in English for many in the Hispanic community, having brochures in Spanish is vital to increase the exposure of the Hispanic popular to nursing as a vital career option. Process: Phase I of the project is the development of brochures in Spanish and English for elementary, middle, and high school students. Phase II is the distribution of the brochures in schools, hospitals, and other public places. Phase III is the advertisement nursing as a career opportunity in the Spanish radio/telecommunications market.
