Every nurse manager finds their clinical setting a challenge to maintain an excitement from the daily routine. This presentation will provide a unique look at successful strategies of a nurse manager at Hackensack University Medical Center and the ability to impact positive staff outcomes through a Magnet environment of autonomy and professional development. This presentation will focus on the successful outcomes through one nurse managers achievements for retention, clinical advancement and professional development on an Intermediate Care Unit. Through leadership, coaching, mentoring and role modeling, the opportunity to develop professionally from the graduate to experienced nurse will be shared. Highlights of the presentation: 90% retention of staff nurses with an average 6.4 years experience 60% of staff returned to advanced their education for bachelors and masters degrees 80% of eligible staff in clinical advancement program 100% of eligible staff certified by ANCC Participation in professional organizations Development of Unit Base Council as a forum for staff nurses to participate in the development and implementation of new programs, polices, and protocols. As a visionary nurse leader with eighteen years experience, commitment to the Magnet philosophy provides a catalyst for professional development, achieving organizational goals and shaping leadership qualities for the future as a Magnet Nurse.
