Research Design: Descriptive Survey. Subjects: Nurses working in the hospital who were recruited 490 from three medical centers in Seoul, Korea. Measurement: 1) Leadership - Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire by Bass(1985) 2) Followership - Questionnaire by Kelly(1994) 3) Job satisfaction - Questionnaire by Slavitt et al.(1978) 4) Organizational Commitment - Questionnaire by Mowday et al.(1979) Data collection: From April 8th to 18th, 2002. Data Analysis : using SAS 8.2 program 1) Suject's Characteristics - Frequency, Percent 2) Importance of leadership-followership combination style - Quantification Method 3) Comparison of each variable's importance - partial cprrelational coefficient Result : 1) It appeared that the most important leadership-followership combination style for job satisfaction was the transformational leadership-effective follower, however the most important leadership-followership combination style for organizational commitment was the transformational leadership-the conformist. 2) According to analysis of partial correlational coefficient to compare the importance of variables, the leadership-followership combination style was the more important than other variables: education, age, duration of job, religion, marriage. Conclusion : With these findings, it was found that the most proper leadership-followership combination style in nursing organization was the transformational leadership- effective follower for job satisfaction and the transformational leadership-the conformist for organizational commitment. So these results will be used to develop a more effective staffing management strategies to improve the effectiveness of nursing organization.
