Evidence-based practice - health care buzzwords? In this session you will learn the multiple meanings of this phrase. We will discuss the critical components required to move practice from tradition-based to evidence-based. Learn how the cycle of evidence-based practice can be used as a model to apply research findings, continuously improve processes, and demonstrate improvements in outcomes. Members of the Sigma Theta Tau Evidence-Based Practice Workgroup will share the findings of the committee related to defining and supporting evidence-based practice. This session will be specifically targeted to nurses in various leadership positions, including nursing administrators, managers, educators, and chapter leaders. Nurses in leadership positions must promote research-friendly environments, provide resources, and promote changes to traditional practice. We will share exemplars of successful models of evidence-based practice and suggest strategies for nurses in each of these leadership roles to support evidence-based nursing practice.
