Nurses, because of the nature of their work, have the rare opportunity to experience life in ways few have the privilege. They are present at birthing, birth, across the life span, in schools, homes, churches, neighborhood gatherings, work settings, and again at dying and death. The beauty of beginnings and endings become familiar. They are present during the most painful and the most loving intimate moments of life. With this work comes a wisdom about things which matter most in life. This tape has been created to share with others the celebration of life. Each song uncovers in a different way an element of professional nursing practice. It was created out of awe for the essence of nursing. It is dedicated to every nurse who has made a choice to serve this humanity. One of the songs “Where Did You Learn the Things You Know?” has inspired nurses across the continent. This music has been used in multiple videos to clarify, inspire and demonstrate in an artistic way the uniqueness of practice. An example of how it was used to help the public understand the essence of nursing is seen in the accompanying video which has touched the hearts, minds and souls of thousands who have viewed it.
