21st INRC [Research Presentation] Purpose: In therapeutic advances context, community services are essential to mental health care especially to severe mental disorders people and their families. This research aim is to evaluate use of instruments to collect relevant information about maintenance treatment of people with severe mental disorders in community services. Methods: Two years quantitative and cross-sectional study had been developed in a community Mental Health Service in Ribeirao Preto City- Sao Paulo, Brazil. ÿThe intentional sample consists of patients discharged from psychiatric hospitalization and their relatives. The collection will last for twelve months and consist two stages: nursing consultation days after patient discharge and monthly following during six months with each patient and their family caregiver, to apply these instruments: Sociodemographic and clinical questionnaire; Structured Clinical Interview for Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale (SIG-BPRS); Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale -BPRS; Morisky-Green Adhesion Test; Family Overload Rating Scale (FBIS-BR). Results: Between October and December of 2009, 30 patients was in mental health service, these 15 patients and caregivers was invited and 10 accepted to participate. In this sample, the majority of patients were women, individual income did not exceed minimum wage, had completed first level degrees, and only 14,6% of them had regularly work. The most prevalent diagnostics were: Schizophrenia, Depression, Mood Disorders. The psychiatric symptoms manifestation was present between patients in low degrees besides they presents low medication adhesion treatment. All family caregivers had added degrees of burden family (overload) related with mental health care. In initial period of three months, only one patient with monthly following needed psychiatric hospitalization. Conclusion: The use of these instruments seems to offer two important pointers for nursing psychiatric care system in the community maintenance of psychiatric treatment. The nursing care system is way to nursing apply their technician-scientific knowledge, characterizing the professional practice.
