[Evidence-based Practice Session Presentation] Purpose: With The objective of evaluating  the quality of life in hospitalized patients with H.I.V. positive of a Second Level Attention Hospital of the Mexican health Sector. Methods: One related study were conducted. In this, the Psychometrics of the Overview Instrument of Problems Evaluation System (HOPES) (Shang, Ganz, Khan & Peterson, 1992) were explored, in it?s standardized version for Mexico (Gonzalez Puente & Sanchez Sosa, 2002), in a group of 90 patients. These patients with a diagnosed level of the infection: Initial, Intermediate and Advanced. Results: The results revealed highly acceptable levels of validity and reliability of the Spanish version of the HOPES as well as identifiable patterns of deterioration of the participants quality of life along five dimensions: physical, caregiver interaction, psychosocial, sexual and relations with significant others.  Conclusion: The instruments by HOPES version Mexican has acceptable levels of validity and reliability, its use recommended in the context of health care in countries on their way to development such as Latin Americans.
