[Evidence-based Practice Session Presentation] This paper will provide practical advice for nurse faculty, practitioners, and students about techniques to improve the usability and design of clinical technology.  The presenter will provide an introduction about the fundamentals of clinical technology design to include:  definitions of common terms and rationale for applying human factors to clinical technology design and other factors impacting practice at the point-of-care. Included will be the new recommendations of the Technology Informatics Guiding Education Reform (TIGER)'s Usability and Clinical Application Design Collaborative to set the stage for discussing issues and recommendations for technology design. This session will prepare nurses to give voice to the important design factors nurses need for effective technology in the classroom and at the point-of-care.
