21st INRC [Research Presentation] Purpose: Patient satisfaction with nursing care is a major factor influencing the overall patient satisfaction with hospital care. The purpose of this study was to test a Chinese version of inpatient?s satisfaction with nursing care questionnaire. Methods: This was a descriptive study. Nine items from CAHPS Hospital Survey (Consumer Assessment of Health Provider and Systems Hospital Survey) related to nursing care were chosen for evaluating the quality of nursing care in a Medical Center. These items were translated into Chinese and were back translated into English. Three Experts examined the meaning of each item. After examining the items, the questionnaire were distributed to patients who have admitted to a hospital at least three days. Four hundred and eighty two patients completed the questionnaire. Reliability and validity were tested. Results: Internal consistency of this questionnaire was .89 (Cronbach's alpha). Factor analysis indicated that all nine items formed a factor which explained 72.49% of the variance. Factor loading for each item were above .40. Conclusion: The reliability and validity of the Chinese version of Inpatient's satisfaction with Nursing Care questionnaire were established. This questionnaire can be used to evaluate the quality of nursing care for patients with hospitalization nationwide.
