[Research Presentation] Research and theoretical work indicate that for dietary behavior change to occur for more than 6 months, two cognitive precursors are necessary. They are "readiness" or intent to change and high level of commitment to healthy eating. This presentation will provide a brief explanation and demonstration of the Stages of Change for Dietary Health Scale and the Commitment to Dietary Health Scale. Both scales can be used to guide nurses working to promote dietary health for their clients, as well as monitoring treatment effectiveness.
