21st INRC [Evidence-Based Practice Symposium Presentation] This presentation will describe the second course in the nursing science sequence which builds on previous knowledge and skills related to research and Evidence-Based practice processes. The focus is on assessment of the elements of research reports for quality. Emphasis is on skill development in rapid critical appraisal toward integrating research evidence into best practices. Through active engagement in discussions of published nursing research, students analyze various components of research designs commonly used in nursing research. This interactive process prepares them to perform critical appraisals of primary qualitative and quantitative research reports for quality and practice implications in the context of Evidence-Based practice through the use of a guided process of critical appraisal.
