[Symposium Presentation] In this symposium, JBI presents the theoretical framework for cohesively bringing these elements of evidence-based practice, quality improvement and research together in 6 steps, and with use of exemplars from different clinical areas with input from JBI Collaborating Centres from the United Kingdom and United States to illustrate the potential impact the framework could have on for practice, patients and health service providers. For research to contribute to evidence based practice, it needs to integrate with and inform practice in ways that clinicians can readily access and understand. Effective modeling of systematic approaches to developing robust platforms for clinical research requires a clear theoretical framework, and cohesive approaches based on internationally accepted structures and standards. In particular, web based systems provide great flexibility in how research can be modeled, and conducted drawing on national and international linkages. JBI COnNECT (Clinical Online Network of Evidence for Care and Therapeutics) provides such a framework. The scope for research to be conducted through specialist COnNECT ônodesö will be discussed and explored. This particular system also focuses on the integration of research findings and clinical expertise with clinical decision support, JBI COnNECT uses an interactive approach to promoting and facilitating clinicians participation in evidence based practice, using a guided approach. The theoretical framework, and steps involved in the guided approach to evidence based practice will be overviewed in the introductory session of this symposium, as will the linkage with capacity for international research.
