Objective: This study was designed for comparision the effect of relaxation technique and ibuprrofen tablet on primary dysmenorrhea. Method:100 girls between 18-22 year who complained of dysmenorrhea ,and their pain was moderate or sever were enrolled in this study. In the first menstural cycle no medical was given. Then they divided in two groups randomly (n=50) one group were treated by ibuprrofen (400 mg q h) and (n=50 ) the second were treated by relaxation technique in the during luteal phase of menstural cycle. Two groups used treatment for two cycle. We used visual Analog Scale (VAS) and verbal Andrisch Milsom pain questionnair for assessing pain in two groups, before and after treatment. Statistical analysis were performed by the independent sample t-test, paired t- test, Mann-withney and friedman test. Results:This study showed that the intensity of pain after treatment ,in the first and second months, didn?t have significant difference between ibuprofen ana relaxation groups (p=0.124and respectively). But with comparing of the intensity of pain for every group, before and after treatment, we had significant difference, for each group.(P=0). Also the duration of dysmenorrhea in the first and second months didn?t have any significant difference between two groups (p=0.556 and p=0.298 respectively), however the duration of dysmenorrhea for every group before and after treatment, has significant difference (p=0).In the end, we have shown that needs to extra analgesics in two groups, didn?t have significant difference (p=0.464). Conclusion: The relaxation technique can be used as a safe, cheap and without complication for primary dysmenorrhea.
