This presentation describes an initiative between a University school of nursing and a community hospital with two campuses.  The initiative was established with the intent to introduce evidence-based practice (EBP) into the 280 bed hospital setting.  Phase 1 of the project, designed to assess the hospital?s readiness to EBP, is the focus of the presentation.  An environmental readiness model (RNAO) was used to guide development of an assessment tool/survey.  The comprehensive survey identifies ?readiness? in key areas such as infrastructure, workplace culture, leadership support for EBP, communication, and nurses knowledge of EBP. The survey is adaptable for use in various healthcare settings.  Results of the survey were presented.
