The integrated focus for gerontology content in the nursing curriculum is based on inclusion of concepts related to interventions to meet the needs of older clients into three lifespan medical-surgical courses. These three courses are spread over the full nursing curriculum. Methodologies used to accomplish the integration will be discussed i.e. specialized case studies, clinical simulations, interactive games and ?real-life? role-playing activities, which focus on not only the pathophysiology, but also the specialized needs of the older clients, such as sensory functioning, sleep and rest needs, and safety and security issues. The strengths and limitations of these methods will be included.
