The purpose of this evaluation was to determine whether implementation of the RNAO BPG on Nurse Management of Hypertension would 1) improve nurse management of hypertension and 2) what facilitators and barriers exist to implementing this guideline in primary health care settings.  This evaluation will use a mixed methods approach to meeting the research objectives.  A randomized control trial is underway to assess the impact of using the guidelines on both nursing practices and patients outcomes.  At the completion of the intervention period February 2006) interviews will be held with a selected sample of participating nurses in the intervention group to explore: the factors influencing implementation of the guidelines; the perceived value and utility of the guidelines and of the training workshop/online training package; the process involved in implementing these guidelines. The result of this evaluation was discussed during the session.
