[2nd International Nursing Research Conference for the World Academy of Nursing Science - Presentation] This poster presentation will elaborate on anti-colonial strategies for the purposes of forming participatory research partnerships with indigenous communities. This presentation will report back on the researcher's work with indigenous communities in Guatemala and Canada engaged in struggles for the defense of their homelands in resistance to mining operations. This presentation will seek to address questions related to nursing's mandate in relation to environmental injustice and negative corporate health consequences. Further, it will consider indigenous peoples' affirmation of their right to self-determination  as a central mechanism for health promotion.
