[Evidence-based Presentation] The Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) was founded in 1996 as a body to appraise and use evidence to enhance practice. Since its inception it has been developing collaborations across the world. In 2004 a Collaboration Agreement between the JBI and the Institute of Health Carlos III for the creation of a Spanish Collaborating Centre (SCC) was signed in order to implement Evidence based nursing in clinical settings. The SCC is located in the Unit for coordination and development of Nursing Research (Investen-isciii) with the involvement of all the Spanish regions. Our principal aim is the development, promotion and support of the evidence based approach to health care. We also aim to develop the science of implementation, to provide a focus for the promotion of a shared organisational culture in which nurses, both in education and practice, are fully engaged with evidence underpinning best practice, and conduct internationally excellent reviews and strategic research using multidisciplinary collaborative teams as appropriate. The SCC has translated the Best Practice Information Sheets (BPIS) into Spanish, in order to facilitate both nursing professionals and general population the access to the best nursing care recommendations, as well as the incorporation of the available evidence into health care practice. We also have been working with researchers, clinicians and managers to carry out systematic reviews and we have delivered short courses in evidence-based practice. As a result of this three years we have:áinvolved 83% (190.189) of the total Spanish nurses; translated 35 BPIS and 6 Best Practice for Consumers into Spanish;ápresented 2 systematic review protocols; organized 4 workshops on systematic reviews; ásubmitted the project: "Evidence-based practice for European health care practitioners: Capacity and Capability Building";ápublished 7 papers in nursing scientific journal; andáorganized an international workshop: "Synthesis of Qualitative Research". á
