[Research Presentation] The Research Approach in Nursing (RAIN) is a hospital-wide and community healthcare evidence-based professional practice model.áThis cohort model was designed to facilitate staff nurses, nurse managers, advanced practice nurses, nurse educators and student nurses in researching patient and nurse-focused questions.áIn its third year, 27 nurses have completed the RAIN educational program which includes monthly research sessions that consist of course work, teamwork and the implementation of the research process to address research problem identification, literature review, examining ethics in nursing research, understanding theoretical and research frameworks, procedures for implementation of qualitative and or quantitative designs.áNurses, who have completed the RAIN program, continue to facilitate their and other research projects and serve as mentors in the shared û governance of this professional practice model to enhance evidence-based practice. The four phases of RAIN include: 1. Educate nurses based on the shared-governance Research Approach in Nursing Model; 2.áAssist nurses with the application of evidence-based practice to identify relevant problems to enhance nursing practice; 3.Engage nurses in professional growth and development of evidence-based research; and 4.áDisseminate research findings for unit-based practice and the nursing community.á
