[22nd International Nursing Research Congress - Evidence -based Practice Presentation] Prenatal care is an important moment in the lives of pregnant women, considering the emotional and physical changes resulting from this period, requiring special attention by the team prenatal. During pregnancy the woman may have doubts, fears, fantasies and other feelings that feed the common sense so as to adversely affect the care provided by health professionals, when scientific knowledge is opposed to the popular wisdom. Taking the relevance of the theme and in order to contribute to improving the quality of prenatal care is that this study aimed to describe the experience of health education aimed at the pre-natal through an extension project. The methodology is the development of operating workshops with a group of pregnant women who are assisted by a non-government institution in the city of Cuiaba-MT, where they are treated issues related to prenatal care, workshops are held on Saturdays. Pregnant women participating in all three trimesters of pregnancy, coming from various districts of the city. The results show two axes, the first assistance to prenatal care has not been effective for the group of pregnant women regarding the guidelines of this period, justified by the questions presented by the pregnant women at each meeting and, according to the project has provided the graduating a more critical look at how the prenatal care has left gaps in relevant information, thus it was observed that the health care of pregnant women should be enhanced with the intention of addressing the needs of this population group. The conclusions point that the project had great social relevance and educational.
