Evidence-based nursing practice requires a significant investment of time, talents, and resources. In this closing session, we will describe approaches and support systems that are being used by nurses at centers around the globe from the US and Canada, to Europe, and Australia to promote and support evidence-based nursing practice. We will share a compilation of resources, including texts, journals, web sites, and consultants to support this work. Resources available through Sigma Theta Tau will be highlighted. The Virginia Henderson International Nursing Library, the Registry of Nursing Research, The Online Journal of Knowledge Synthesis for Nursing, society publications and educational programs will be described in relation to their applicability to evidence-based nursing practice. Speakers and consultants for evidence-based practice, from Sigma Theta Tau’s Distinguished Lecturers and Distinguished Writers programs, will be introduced; and the work of Sigma Theta Tau’s Evidence-Based Practice Task Force will be reviewed. Audience participants will be encouraged to share their experiences with evidence-based practice and their recommendations for promoting both local and international collaboration to further this important work.
