Critical components of successful grant writing include: 1) having access to information about grant opportunities, 2) understanding how to write successful grants, and 3) effectively using other scientists to provide critical review throughout the process of grant writing. The purpose of this presentation is to discuss multiple methods for informing faculty about methods for achieving each of these components. The methods include use of existing mechanisms that are available for investigators nationwide such as use of web-based resources and NIH workshops, as well practices that can be adopted within an institution such as time efficient methods of faculty mentoring and internal reviews.
