Abstract:
Poster presented at AORN's 58th Annual Congress: This poster will examine the roles and benefits of having a nurse practitioner in a vascular surgery practice. The vascular surgery practice will be defined and include the preparation and planning that was implemented for a new nurse practitioner to start in this practice. The poster will examine patient outcomes with and without a nurse practitioner in the group. This poster will also examine the potential revenue and relative work units that a nurse practitioner can bring to a vascular surgery practice, and give statistics about the author's first year and a half belonging to the vascular surgery practice. The journey of the author's first year and a half as a nurse practitioner will briefly be discussed with some helpful hints for nurses who are contemplating returning to school.
