Abstract:
Abstract presented at AORN's 58th Annual Congress: One in six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lifetime. Urologic nurses play an integral role in the diagnosis, pre-operative education, surgery, and post-operative care surrounding prostate cancer treatment. Robotic surgery is at the forefront of prostate cancer treatment and requires diligent attention to patient positioning, a full understanding of the use of robotic equipment, and thorough knowledge of the surgical procedure on part of the nurse and the nurse practitioner. This presentation will explain in detail each aspect of care required for the patient undergoing robotic prostatectomy.
