Abstract:
Abstract presented at AORN's 58th Annual Congress: In today's health care economy, nursing leaders are charged with balancing productivity and fiscal responsibility while improving quality outcomes and staff satisfaction. Success is dependent on their ability to utilize evidence-based leadership theories and processes in their practice settings. This session will arm novice to expert nursing leaders with evidence-supported tools and concepts. Topics include the significance of professional organizations, personal leadership skills regarding professionalism, dressing for success, public speaking, and navigating the political environment of an organization. More global concepts include understanding and promoting a Magnet culture, the AONE executive competencies, transformational leadership, change theory, and strategic planning.
