Abstract:
Abstract presented at AORN's 58th Annual Congress: Patient safety is at the forefront of the Ambulatory Surgery Care Center manager, OR Director, Infection Practitioners minds. Your time is limited and you need to perform an assessment on one of the busiest places in the hospital, the Sterile Processing Department. This presentation will provide you with the necessary navigation points to perform a 50, 000 foot assessment whereby identifying key focus areas in the decontamination, prep and pack, sterilization, storage, and distribution areas, as well as identify specific quality assurance practices that must be in place to assure safe reprocessing of surgical medical devices. This presentation will be interactive and provide questions to the attendee so the audience will get a sense of what they should know about sterile processing. This presentation was trialed at Oregon Ambulatory Surgery Association meeting with high evaluation marks.
