CASN Nursing Academic Leadership Conference: This presentation will represent an initiative under the theme Nursing and Leadership. The partner Schools of Nursing in Newfoundland Labrador proposed to the provincial government the creation of an LPN Bridging Option within our current BN (Collaborative) Program as one initiative in addressing the forecasted nursing shortage. This presentation will share our experience to date in developing the BN (Collaborative) Program LPN Bridging Option proposal, engaging faculty, seeking approvals, securing funding, working with prospective students, recruitment, admission, plans for program delivery and evaluation. The presentation will also highlight the program rationale, demand for the program, and benefits to students. A brief overview of the history of practical nursing education programs in the province will also be highlighted.
