Abstract:
Podium presentation, ANCC National Magnet Conference: Preparing staff for a Magnet site visit can be challenging and overwhelming. Magnet Champion groups frequently struggle with how to motivate and engage employees while on their Magnet journey. This is a story of how one 315-bed regional care hospital with off-site physician offices, acute care surgi-centers and home health facilities successfully motivated and engaged its staff prior to their initial Magnet Site Visit. Over 800 employees, both clinical and non-clinical, participated in a Magnet Premiere that was fun, innovative, creative and memorable. The success of this weeklong event was largely due to the support given to the Magnet Champions; from hospital administration to the volunteer services, the pride was palpable. The Magnet Premiere promoted staff unity, education, and a fun environment including a quiz booth with prizes, a picture booth, snacks and a movie. The enthusiasm from the Magnet Premiere carried over to the following week with a successful site visit.
