Title:
Incivility: A Concept Analysis in Nursing Education
Abstract:
(41st Biennial Convention) The concept of incivility is an increasing phenomenon in nursing education. The increase in incivility within the nursing education setting places strain on the learning environment and may prove detrimental to the nursing education experience. In this poster, the concept of incivility in nursing education is analyzed using the classic concept analysis procedure described by Walker and Avant. The concept of incivility lacks a consistent definition; therefore this article will provide an operational definition of incivility using relevant sources from a variety of disciplines including nursing education. This concept analysis provides understanding and clarification of the meaning of incivility.  According to the concept analysis procedure, concept uses, defining attributes, model and additional cases, antecedents and consequences and empirical referents of incivility are presented in this poster.
