Attributes of a Successful Team with Key Tips in Forming the Research Team that Not Only Survives, but Thrives
Abstract:
(41st Biennial Convention) Purposes/Aims The purposes of this presentation will be to: (1) describe the attributes of a successful team, and (2) highlight key tips in forming a research team that not only survives, but thrives.   Rationale/Background The success of any research project is usually dependent upon a team that shares a common vision and is knowledgeable regarding attributes of successful team work. The success of any research team involves mutual respect among the team members, open communication and dedication to the project. Brief Description of the Best Practice Best practices learned in forming research teams to successfully conduct a serious of 3 NIH/NINR funded R01 intervention studies will be described. Specifics regarding key elements to consider when forming the research team that thrives will be highlighted. Outcomes Achieved The ultimate goal of any research team is the successful completion of the project and the fulfillment of each team member’s goals.  Outcomes achieved from these 3 intervention study teams will be described. Conclusions The success of any research project is in large part dependent upon its team members. Knowledge of key attributes of a successful team and tips for forming a productive research team can benefit researchers who desire to assemble a team that not only survives, but thrives.
