Title:
An Online Approach to Continuous Learning and Contact Hours: The Integrative Health Forum
Abstract:
(41st Biennial Convention) The Integrative Health Forum evolved in 2003 as the result of the work of 13 charter members with a vision of creating the evidence-base for wellness practice.  The group has grown significantly as a result of weekly calls, breakfast seminars, and more.  In 2008, the European Health Forum was created to address the needs of wellness specialists in the European community.  Together, as IHFglobal, we extend our message to the masses – worldwide.  Our goal is to become a recognized international leader for wellness and health and online education. Evidence-based medicine is one of the cornerstones of the 21st century. The evidence base for wellness practice, as in all clinical areas, comes from controlled, randomized clinical trials. Disease management efforts identify and focus on those with chronic illness. Improving the health of those with chronic disease, as well as those in the population at large, is consistent with a healthy society and the World Health Organization’s Healthy People 2020 Goal. Wellness is an experience to be discovered and lived each and every day. Wellness enhances the interrelationship of body, mind, and spirit. Integrative medicine practice draws upon the best evidence available from allopathic, complementary and alternative medicine offering patients credible information to make informed decisions about their health and well-being. Integrative medicine promotes health and wellness because it empowers the patient to assume responsibility for one’s state of health. Through online educational offerings, participants enjoy collaboration, innovation, publication and research.  The speaker addresses the success of the program and the ability to reach over 17,000 participants worldwide.
