The purpose of this project is to enable chapter leaders to create a chapter community service committee.  At the Gamma chapter, our Undergraduate Leadership Intern created and chaired a committee this year, which consisted of 14 members. Members consisted of current BSN students, early admit freshmen, college of nursing faculty/staff and practicing nurses.  The role of a community service committee member is to: 1) Assist in planning and organizing community services events for members of the Gamma chapter and nursing community, 2) Encourage peers to attend events and become involved, 3) Participate in fundraising activities, 4) Attend monthly Gamma Community Service Committee meetings. Tools will be shared on the process of selecting members, sample community service projects, meeting agendas and recognition initiatives. Statistics will be provided that show the benefit to the chapter and the surprising interest members had to serve on a committee.
