Background and problems

Nurse staff a crucial role in patient care. However, they are so responsible that they work overtime. This study began on May 2010; it focused on their time of leaving work. The result shows that 90.6% related to 30 minutes late, and work satisfaction decreases 38.9%. To analyze the problems, we realized several reasons, such as complicated nursing records, time on shift-change is too long and so on.

Purpose

To project was designed to decrease the leaving work time.

Resolution

To solve the problem, we worked on three vital factors. First of all, teaching nurses how to communicate with medical staff with specific skills such as ISBAR communication skill. Second, we simplify shift-change procedure. Lastly, unify nursing record forms.

Result

The result showed that overtime rate has decreased form 90.6% to 21.86%. Also, the satisfaction was up to 85%.

Conclusion

Hopefully, through this improvement, we will be able to solve the problems of working overtime and the quality of work, and share this sort of problem with other staff.
