Abstract:

Session presented on: Tuesday, November 19, 2013

In this session, approaches to providing ongoing education, support, guidance and mentoring of academic faculty learning EBP will be presented. The critical importance of an expert EBP team that is consistent, available, credible and flexible will be discussed. The skill set of the expert EBP team members to assure successful engagement and collaboration with the faculty will be presented. Examples of expert EBP team/faculty discussions that led to both simple and complex modifications of traditional course content/assignments to EBP integrated course content/assignments will be highlighted. The lived experience of working through the barriers and seizing the opportunities to grow EBP knowledge, skills and confidence in faculty proved to be both predictable in some ways and full of surprises in others. These experiences will be shared and recommendations for strategic planning for this journey in other academic institutions will be provided.
