Abstract:

Poster presented on: Sunday, November 17, 2013, Saturday, November 16, 2013

The poster presentation will illustrate a curriculum-mapping project that acted as a vehicle for improving individual leadership skills of the NFLA scholar while engaged with novice nursing faculty beyond the classroom.  The project entailed the revision of a paper-based curriculum map to an interactive, electronic version.  The mapping project enabled the NFLA scholar to use knowledge gained from the academy, as well as her informatics skills, to enhance personal and team members’ leadership behaviors based on Kouzes’ and Posner’s leadership model.  Through the execution of this curriculum-mapping project, the scholar helped members better understand curriculum design, evaluation, and accreditation standards.  As a result, project members broadened their scope of influence within the nursing department and within Saint Francis University.  In addition, the scholar broadened her scope of influence in the surrounding rural community by sharing her leadership skills in diverse healthcare settings.
